Establish. Grow. Preserve

Founded in 2002, the Walker Area Foundation (WAF) was developed to enhance the quality of life in the area we live, work and recreate. WAF participates, initiates and supports generally within the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley school district boundaries.

The Walker Area Foundation (WAF) is a charity 501(c)(3) Nonprofit.
OUR MISSION
01
Establish, grow and preserve an endowment to improve the quality of community life in partnership with other community stakeholders.
02
Be a catalyst for addressing changing needs in our diverse community through strategic grant making in the arts, community development, education, environment, health, social services and related areas.
03
Broaden the base of community charitable giving by serving as a leader and resource center for donors who wish to return something to their community.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors of the Walker Area Foundation is a dedicated group of local business owners, former educators, and active community members who share a commitment to enhancing the quality of life in our region. With diverse backgrounds and a deep understanding of the unique needs of our community, they bring valuable insights and a passion for service to their roles. WE BUILD
RELATIONSHIPS
WAF is proud of the relationships we have developed with donors, prospective donors and community leaders. By nuturing these relationships, we have been able to convey a better understanding of charitable giving as it specifically relates to our community. Several generous individuals, families and businesses, including WAF board members, have contributed to building the Foundation’s endowment or creating their own endowment within the Foundation. In addition, others have made generous provisions for future funding of WAF through life insurance and estate planning.
